Three pairs of football boots used by star players at the height of their powers go on sale with Julien’s Auctions on April 25th along with FIFA world Cup Gold winners medals, an Olympic torch carried by Muhammad Ali and Pele’s Brazil passport. For baseball fans there are items from legendary players Willie Mays and Babe Ruth.
To hold these revered objects is to feel some of the energy and charisma that still surrounds them. Thanks to the men who stamped their mark on these games with these items, touching them is to be transported to the center of our love affair with sport, if only for a moment.
On offer is Lionel Messi’s 500th goal match worn gold boots: $6,000 – $10,000, Cristiano Ronaldo’s Real Madrid debut match worn boots: $5,000 – $7,000 and Kylian Mbappé’s match worn Team France boots 2017: $6000 – $10,000. Bidders for this trio of famous boots are expected to be out in strength to claim them for their collections.
MUHAMMAD ALI SIGNED 1996 OLYMPICS RELAY TORCH FROM 1996 Atlanta Summer Olympics relay used torch, signed by Muhammad Ali. Ali had the honor of being the last member of the 1996 Olympic Torch Relay, thus lighting the Olympic flame at the opening ceremony of the 1996 Summer Olympics at Centennial Olympic Stadium in Atlanta on July 19, 1996, marking the official opening of the Games. The torch is accompanied by a color image of Ali and the consignor at the time the torch was signed. Display, 38 1/8 by 8 1/8 by 5 inches, overall $10,000-12,000.
WILLIE MAYS 1959 SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS UNIFORM – $40,000 – $50,000 GIFTED TO FLORENCE AND HARRY SESION, THE BLACK COUPLE WHO HOSTED HIM AT A TIME WHEN BLACK BALLPLAYERS COULD NOT STAY AT TEAM HOTELS.
A San Francisco Giants uniform issued to legendary Giants outfielder Willie Mays during the 1959 season. The white flannel jersey features “Giants” arching across the chest in black-on-orange lettering. Stitched into the front tail of the jersey is a “Wilson/ 42” label. Stitched into the back of the jersey is Mays’ famous “24” uniform number, also in black-on-orange lettering. An embroidered swatch at interior collar reading “Mays.” The jersey is accompanied by McAuliffe brand pants that were also issued to Mays. This believed to be game worn uniform was gifted to the family that hosted Mays during spring training from 1962-1972.
Willie Howard Mays, Jr. (born May 6, 1931), nicknamed “The Say Hey Kid“, is an American former Major League Baseball (MLBV) center who spent almost all of his 22-season career playing for the New York/San Francisco Giants before finishing with the New York Mets. He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1979.
Mays won two National League (NL) Most Valuable Player awards, ending his career with 660 home runs — third at the time of his retirement and currently fifth all-time—and won a record-tying 12 Gold Glove awards beginning in 1957, when the award was introduced.

CRISTIANO RONALDO SIGNED AND MATCH WORN REAL MADRID DEBUT BOOTS – $5,000 – $7,000
A pair of Nike Mercurial brand match worn boots by Cristiano Ronaldo during his debut with Real Madrid C.F. and signed in gold marker. Ronaldo made his debut in La Liga on August 29, 2009, against Deportivo La Coruña, and scored from the penalty spot in Madrid’s 3–2 home win. Embroidered to the exterior of each boot are Cristiano Ronaldo’s initials “CR.” Size not available.
LIONEL MESSI 500TH GOAL SIGNED AND MATCH WORN BOOTS – $6,000 – $10,000
A pair of Adidas brand match worn boots by Lionel Messi during the La Liga match between Real Madrid vs. Barcelona at Estadio Bernabeu on April 23, 2017 in Madrid, Spain. Each boot is signed to the exterior by Messi in black marker alongside the flag of Argentina. The exterior right boot features a logo with his son’s name and date of birth, “Thiago/ 02 11 12” and his wife’s nickname “Anto” with his uniform number “10” logo to the interior. The exterior left boot features “Mateo/ 11 09 15” logo and “Anto/ 10” logo to the interior, alongside a Messi emblem on both boots. Size 8.
KYLIAN MBAPPÉ 2017 MATCH WORN BOOTS – $6000 – $10,000
A pair of Nike brand Mercurial football boots match worn by Kylian Mbappé during an international match in 2017 with the France national team. The inner exterior of the right boot features “KEWJF.” The inner exterior of the left foot features a flag of France alongside an “MBAPPE” logo. Kylian Mbappé became the youngest player to score in a World Cup final since Pelé when he put France 4-1 ahead against Croatia. Size 11.
PELÉ 1993-2003 BRAZIL PASSPORT A Federative Republic of Brazil passport issued to Pelé on March 5, 1993, and valid until March 4, 2003, from Pelé’s personal collection. Issued by Brazil’s Departamento de Polícia Federal – Seção de Polícia Marítima, Aérea e de Fronteiras, in Santos, São Paulo. A Babe Ruth Signed Magazine Clipping: $5,000 – $7,000 and Babe Ruth, Mel Ott, Jimmie Fox Autograph Display: $3000 – $5000. George Herman “Babe” Ruth Jr. (February 6, 1895 – August 16, 1948) is regarded as one of the greatest sports heroes in America and is considered by many to be the greatest baseball player of all time. In 1936, Ruth was elected into the Baseball Hall of Fame as one of its ‘First Five’ inaugural members.
BABE RUTH SIGNED NEWSPAPER CLIPPING $5,000 to $7,000. A newspaper clipping signed by New York Yankees legend Babe Ruth in black ink. The newspaper clipping reads, “He’s Still the King!” Further reads to the bottom margin, “Babe Ruth, the old home run king, who will be honored as the nation’s No. 1 baseball hero tomorrow at celebrations in major and minor league parks thruout [sic] the country.” From the family collection of Gene Elston, famous Hall of Fame broadcaster, primarily with the Houston Astros.
