GODZone Chapter 9 will make history when the world’s largest expedition adventure race takes place on New Zealand’s North Island for the first time in 2020.  This prestigious and grueling 8 day event will be held  from November 19 to 28 next year at Rotorua and Bay of Plenty. All 90 available team slots sold out in under a day, all but guaranteeing one of the biggest turn outs this event has ever seen.

GODZone is one of the most high-profile adventure racing events in the world. It attracts hundreds of competitors each year in each of the 3 racing categories of GZ Pure, GZ Pursuit, and GZ Prime. The full-length, 8-day GZ Pure course explores the region’s perfect blend of varied Central Plateau terrain creating a true wilderness expedition. Alternatively, the appealing and competitive GZ Prime and GZ Pursuit categories in Rotorua provides the ultimate in truly unique racing experience across the diverse wilderness of New Zealand.

Event Director Warren Bates said the Chapter 9 race is a significant highlight of the adventure racing scene. International teams are already excited to experience as much of the incredibly unique volcanic terrain as possible. Plus it will be an excellent opportunity to showcase the spectacular surrounding area to the world. Teams who were unable to secure their place can still register their interest online and discuss their options.
