Vahesaar wins in Gdynia as world’s best slackliners thrill at Red Bull Slackship.

Tauri Vahesaar won the 2017 Red Bull Slackship title in the port city of Gdynia as the world’s best
slackliners put on a thrilling trick show for the Polish fans.

The Estonian, who won the first edition in 2015, pulled off a remarkable routine to triumph with American
Mickey Wilson in second place and 19-year-old home hero Filip Oleksik third.

The one-of-a-kind competition spectacularly combines tape walking and performing complex tricks
between two tapes rigged 25 metres up between the masts above the deck of the Dar Młodzieży (The
Gift of Youth), Poland’s biggest sailing ship.

The 10 competitors had two-and-a-half minutes over four rounds to dazzle both the jury and the
impressive crowd with their own unique set of acrobatic tricks.

Twenty-four-year-old Vahesaar reeled off tricks such as the Back Bounce, Estonian Flip and Backtastic
to win and declared afterwards, “I’m back and it makes be very happy! It’s the best and the highest
trackline competition in the world, so it really is hard to beat.”

Oleksik added, “I feel incredible, for me the third place at Red Bull Slackship is like a victory, especially
since I can enjoy the support of the Polish audience.”
