2017 UCI Mountain Bike World Championships rolling coverage
SWITZERLAND has ended France’s dominance in the Cross Country Team Relay in style to kickstart their 2017 UCI World Mountain Bike Championships campaign.
Nino Schurter held his arms aloft after anchoring the team to victory 24 seconds ahead of Denmark, who finished second thanks to Simon Andreassen pipping France’s Neilo Perrin Ganier on the line.
Schurter, who has won every individual race of the 2017 XCO World Cup season, followed under-23 rider Filippo Colombo, Junior Men’s rider Joel Roth, women’s under-23 rider Sina Frei and elite women’s rider Yolanda Neff.
France had won the past three relays prior to the format changing to five riders for 2017.
