Victorian paddling comp kicks off this Thursday!

Victorian paddlers of all persuasions are invited to put their skills to the test at the Outer Edge Crit Series, kicking off this Thursday, 27 October.

Comprising 4km, 6km, and 8km distances, these five fast and friendly ocean races –held on the last Thursday of the month from October to March – are suitable for beginner right through to elite paddlers. And with categories for ocean skis, SUPs, outriggers and sea kayaks, there’s no excuse not to get wet.

The action starts a 6.30pm at Sandridge Life Saving Club on Port Phillip Bay, so you’ll have plenty of time to throw off the suit and slip into your paddling gear for the ultimate post-work cool down.

As for the competition, well that’s hot. Last year’s series champ, Williamstown ski star, Ivor Morgan, is once again throwing down the gauntlet to anyone who dares to steal his title. But it’s at the novice end of the field where we’re expecting to see the fiercest rivalry, with a new Plastic Craft category especially for ocean paddling newbies.

Did we mention the prizes? They’re smokin’! Some of the goodies up for grabs include:

• Stellar SR ocean ski valued at $2500
• Sunny King Paddle Boards SUP and paddle package worth $800
• Product and vouchers from SUP HQ valued at $1000
• Spot prizes and giveaways
• Cash for the pointy end of the field.

The first ten paddlers to enter the entire series win a free 12-month Outer Edge subscription.
