2011 Adventure Racing World Championships in full swing!
It’s day three of the 2011 Adventure Racing World Championships in Tasmania and the competition is already highly intense with teams trying to get a jump on their rivals, despite the length of the race.
Over 80 teams are competing on the rugged North West coast of Tassie day and night for the $75,000 in prize money.
The race began with a paddle from Burnie to Penguin with team Seagate from New Zealand leading the charge, followed by clay-pigeon shooting. Next was a trek over Dial Range, once again led by Seagate, who beat the estimated trek time by three hours!
Team Silva (Sweden) and Australia’s Team Blackheart weren’t far behind for the next leg, a scenic, but tough, bike ride, which led to a muddy caving expedition.
All teams had to slow down for a compulsory six-hour break last night to refuel and try to rest.
