To get around that hassle, for the last 10 years, he and his team have been developing this wave pool, and although he’s created the technology, he says that a wave pool this good would not have been possible just a few years ago.
The Kelly Slater Wave Company has built this pool about 100 miles from the coast in an undisclosed location. It’s situated somewhere with consistent wind direction and weather that is conducive to surfing year round.
By creating the man-made wave, surfers will no longer have to scan surf or weather reports, they can just drive over to the pool and surf a wave that is as good as any they would find around the world. The future of year round surfing is here, thanks to one of the world’s best. On a side note, the wave pool is also powered 100% by the sun.
